The story of The Runner-Ups began with a broken heart full of desire and uncertainty. Coming off a bad band break-up in 2011, Jason needed to fulfill a St. Patrick's Day commitment, but found himself without a band. A call to a friend, and a tongue-in-cheek band name made the show possible, and on March 17th, 2012, The Runner-Ups entered the world.
After 4 bass players, 2 drummers, 2 lead guitar players, and a keyboardist, the band thought it had reached its final form in 2016 with Jason, Mark, Andrew, and Gary, but sometimes life takes precedence, and Mark bowed out at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Unsure what the future held, full band retirement felt like a very real possibility, but as Dr. Ian Malcolm once said, "Life, ugh, finds a way."
Enter Nick Walker.
Nick hails from Princess Anne, MD, and even though he's the new guy, Nick is already fitting right in.
We'd love to tell you our story in person, so come out to a show, and we'll bend your ear in more ways than one.
*** New Update ***
As we embark on year 11, it's difficult to find the "fresh." What can we do that's different, that's thrilling to not just the long-time fans, but to someone who has never heard what we bring to the stage? What's something we haven't tried that will ignite the furnace without being a gimmick? The short answer is, "we don't know." But will we do our best to find "it" and bring you a rock show you're proud to attend?
You better believe it!
